Mexican Peso

The Mexican peso (symbol: $; code: MXN) is the official currency of Mexico. While the first peso was introduced in 1793, it was replaced by the new peso in 1993 at the rate of one new peso to 1000 old pesos. The peso is subdivided into 100 centavos, but these are rarely use. The currency is most commonly found in denominations of $20, $50, $100, $200, $500 bills and $1, $2, $5, $10 coins.
